External Competition Programme
We enters a number of competitions run either by our regional association (the Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs), individual clubs or national. For some, the image eligibility criteria is very complex and the rules need to be studied carefully. The main competitions in our calendar are:
CACC Rosebowl: A competition for projected digital images. It comprises 3 preliminary rounds each against 3 or 4 different clubs. Each round produces qualifying points for the final with 5 going to the winner, 3 to the second, 2 to the third and 1 to the fourth. The judge in each round also awards “stars” to two images. At the end of the three rounds the ten clubs with the highest number of qualifying points go to the final. Should there be ties for the last places in the final then the number of “stars” is taken into account.
CACC Championships: Clubs may enter both projected digital image and print championships. Both are judged on the same day by a panel of 3 judges. The leading clubs go on to represent the CACC in the PAGB national finals.
Federation of North-West London Clubs (North West Fed): A competition with both print and projected digital image elements. It comprises three initial rounds against the same two clubs, with the cumulative scores over all three determining the winner, who goes forward to the semi-finals (1 of 2) which is a single round competition against another winner of their initial rounds. The two winners from the semi-finals meet in the final. The judge in all preliminary rounds “stars” two prints and two digital images and these go forward, independently, to the final where they are eligible for best print or best digital image award.
Mersea Island Challenge Trophy: This is a competition for projected digital images against clubs from all over the UK. Each club is allocated to a group of up to six. In the preliminary rounds the same images are shown and judged at each club in the group and scores accumulated. The leading clubs from all groups then meet in the final, still using the same image set.
Ron Wake Memorial Trophy: A seven-way print competition run by Harrow CC
St. Albans 8-way: A single round competition between 8 clubs, many from outside the CACC region. Recently it has been confined to prints. Some of the competing clubs come from the East Anglian Federation.
Central Club Challenge: A single round digital image competition with many clubs coming from outside the CACC region.
Park St. Landscape: A single round projected digital image competition.
CACC Audio Visual: Currently suspended.
Visions: A projected digital image competition run annually by XRR since 2011. Any PAGB affiliated club member may enter and clubs may designate a team. Trophies for best individual and best team. Images judged by a single judge. Replaces Pre-Visions.
The Great British Cup A competition for all clubs with 3 sections: Large Club open subject, Small Club open subject and Natural History. Up to 21 images may be entered in the section(s) of choice with limitations on individual authors. Judging is in private. The club positions in each section are based on the aggregate score of the ten best scoring images.
Individual members may enter work in the following locally organised competitions:-

Each season, the CACC applies for PAGB patronage for this competition so that PAGB medals and ribbons can be awarded for the best images. Held on the CACC Championship Day.
